STEP 1:
Give People The Opportunity To Know They are Free To Learn
Show students, adults, workers, and anyone wishing to learn how they can explore many worlds of knowledge with MERLOT.
- Explain what MERLOT is.
- Show what MERLOT can do.
- Demonstrate how MERLOT can be used.
Use Google Translate to demonstrate MERLOT in people's primary language.

STEP 2:
Become A Member of A Worldwide Learning Community
Show how everyone wishing to learn can become visible in a worldwide community of learners by becoming a MEMBER in MERLOT. Help people create a MERLOT Member Profile that showcases their interests, skills, and community connections. When you choose your type of affiliation, use JSDC as your Affiliation Name.
STEP 3:
Catalog your web-based materials in MERLOT so others can find them.
- Get started with our YouTube videos on using MERLOT.
- To add materials to MERLOT, you will need to register as a member of MERLOT – it's free!
STEP 4:
When you find a MERLOT resource, add your voice
- Add a comment about how you are using OER you've found in MERLOT
- Share your open educational practice through social media platforms with easy referencing to OER.
- Create and share your own personal "bookshelf" of OER in MERLOT with our Bookmark and Course ePortfolio tools
- Describe Learning Exercises you've designed with OER using a MERLOT easy-to-complete format.
STEP 5:
Create Your Own Website and Share
MERLOT's Content Builder provides a free, open, and easy to use authoring tool for faculty and students to design websites. All websites built with Content Builder are fully accessible, scalable to any screen size or device, and are hosted by MERLOT. Tutorials and guides will show you how to create, edit, and publish a website entirely for free!- Get Started with our YouTube videos on creating a website with MERLOT Content Builder.
