This course introduces the manual programming, setup, and operation of CNC machining centers. Topics include programming formats, control functions, program editing, part production, and inspection. Upon completion, students should be able to manufacture simple parts using CNC machining centers. The course was created utilizing the Odigia digital learning platform.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Make use of precision instruments such as micrometers to properly measure out machine parts.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed for production.
- Set up and operate a CNC mill correctly
- Know how to set up and edit a program for a CNC milling operation
- Know how to inspect simple machine parts
