Who is Thomas Murn?

I am a twenty year old student at Nassau community college majoring in marketing. My creating this portfolio is due to my enrolling in a Coursera course by the name of "Exploring Emerging Technologies for Lifelong Learning and Success". I took that course because one of the options for a term project in my management class is to create an e-portfolio and complete module one of said course. I chose this option because I found it much more interesting than writing a paper and thought it might be useful to become familiar with these technologies.

What motivates you to be a lifelong learner or perhaps become one?

-I believe that knowledge is power and that the more you know the more you can do. Its easy to be uninformed but impossible to be over-informed. I also believe that learning is an important part of growing as a person. These beliefs motivate me to be a life long learner.

How could adopting habits of lifelong learning impact your life, school, and work?

I believe practicing life long learning would improve my performance in all of those areas. For example if I approached school with wanting to learn instead of wanting to get a grade Id likely be more motivated to read through material/do work that isn't for a grade. Generally speaking, to be a lifelong learner is to go above and beyond to understand what's happening around you be that at your job or in daily life.
