Cooking Up Open Education: The MERLOT-CN World INNOVATION PROJECT
Welcome! MERLOT is collaborating with CN World to bring FREE and Open Educational Resources AND a FREE technology platform that has comprehensive capabilities to empower higher education in developing countries.
Free and open educational resources are important ingredients for teaching and learning but people also need an educational “kitchen” to prepare and deliver the instructional materials for students. CN World will be providing a learning management system for FREE that empowers social learning and captures learning outcomes in ePortfolios.

CN World is a new nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization, founded in 2022 in Indiana USA, to offer free educational technology software tools and services to teachers and students worldwide. The CN World’s initial free offerings are given to public universities in developing nations.
CN World offers free perpetual software licenses and top-notch educational technology services to qualified preselected educational institutions worldwide. All software licenses come bundled with comprehensive hosting services and dedicated tech support to ensure that higher education institutions receive unparalleled assistance whenever and wherever need it.
Free and open educational resources and free access to a learning management system are essential for designing and delivering education in the 21st century. People need the educational ingredients and kitchen but… more is needed. Just as recipes and “know-how” are required to prepare and serve a quality meal, pedagogical expertise and experiences are required to design and deliver a quality education.
CN World Ambassadors are the “educational chefs” that bring their expertise, guidance and encouragement for the professional development of faculty and staff. The CN World Ambassador program brings Open Educational Practices and Practitioners into the institutional strategy for campuses and these leaders will share their special “recipes” for teaching and learning with technology successfully with their students.
As a CN World Ambassador, you will be traveling to a university in a developing country for about a week to deliver workshops and seminars to faculty on teaching with innovative methods and technology support. All travel expenses are paid by CN World, plus $1,000 honorarium stipend.
In order to qualify as an Ambassador, you are expected to complete an online course offered by the CN World to learn about effective pedagogies that utilize social learning, gamification, and ePortfolios.
