PREFACE

In 2017, CSU Chancellor’s Office issued Executive Order 1110, which mandates that effective Fall 2018, students who are deemed not college ready in mathematics will initially enter baccalaureate-credit-bearing courses. All the remedial courses were deleted in Fall 2018. These lab worksheets were designed to help these students review essential materials for lessons in trigonometry. The lab worksheets were written with the textbook, “Precalculus: An Investigation of Functions”. However, they can be used with any textbook.

Due to the pandemic in 2020, all classes were taught in the virtual mode. These lab worksheets were converted from a printed to an interactive online version. These online worksheets were posted on MyOpenMath (Course ID: 149026), a free online learning platform for instructors and students. These MyOpenMath worksheets are great tools for an active learning mode. Both students and instructors can check the work as soon as the work is submitted.

How to use these worksheets

As mentioned earlier, these worksheets help students to review the materials needed for the lesson. For example, prior to the lesson “Solving Trigonometry Equations”, instructors review with their students Worksheet 10 - Getting Ready for Trigonometric Equations with Identities. In this worksheet, students review how to solve equations by factoring and simplifying or rewrite trigonometric expressions using trigonometry identities. These skills help students to follow the lesson easier.
