Research Experience

My English 101 class at the University of Southern Indiana gave me the chance to write a detailed research paper about treating kids who have ADHD. ADHD can be a roadblock to meeting other goals, such as nutrition goals because mental health can be hard to talk to others about and address. Through the research, I learned that there is no one key to treating people with ADHD. Humans all come with different needs and experiences, so it is a process of understanding what works out best and what a person feels most comfortable with. Most of the time, I found that a prescribed medication is the solution. There is more information available about mental health and how it is normal to take action to have a healthy relationship with your mental health. Poor mental health can affect what you eat and your activity levels, so it gave me the chance to extend dietetics to mental health and not just physical well-being.
