Abstract: This open textbook has been adopted in the Teaching and Learning with Tech course for GRADUATE students by Dr. Robbie Melton at the HBCU Tennessee State University. The open educational resources is to provides an over view of coding and creating. The main motivation to adopt an open textbook was to help support students financially. Most student access the open open educational resources in electronic access through merlot and learn.

Bio: Dr. Robbie Melton is an Experience:

Associate Vice Chancellor for Online Learning and Emerging Technologies with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education in areas of Strategic Planning and Training for Emerging IOE (The Internet of Everything) smart connected Technologies and Technology Innovations Showcases. Keynote Speaker, Author, Researcher, Consultant, Trainer, and Technology Evaluator.

Dr. Robbie Melton's teaching style is the psychology of immersive learning.

Supplemental resources: Power point, articles, videos, and animations will be available to students.

Cost savings: Specify potential cost savings to students from adopting an open textbook instead of the traditional publisher textbook previously used. The current estimated cost is $0.

Course Number: TELC 4005 

Description:  

Students will examine a wide variety of technology through Code and Create App and Prototype Design that influence the world of Coding. Students will investigate SMART technologies' impact for teaching, learning, and training through the world of mobile devices and mobile apps. Students will use Apple's iPad/iPhone tools and Apps to earn badges that culminate in designing Community-Based App Prototypes for the iPad/iPhone.

 

Examines a wide variety of technology through Code and Create App and Prototype Design that influence the world of Coding. This kind of Creativity engagement will help students become innovative through app creation, strategic thinking, skill development, and Teamwork. This course will teach students how to be innovative and create the world's future entrepreneurs.


Prerequisites: None

Learning outcomes:  Students learn how to work together outcomes for the course. Share demographics for students who take the class e.g. common majors, previous preparation, etc.


Curricular changes: Explain any curricular changes made to the course as a result of the open textbook adoption.

Textbook Adoption

OER Adoption Process

Our  motivations for adopting the open textbook is saving students money, better control over instructional materials, and ability to customize for students needs.

We used to additional Free and Open Educational Resources to supplement the textbook.  


Student access:  Students can access the textbook including print if available. We do add the PDF or other format as a resource in your Learning Management System.


Student feedback about using OER:  Students feedback regarding usage of the open textbook Has been great.
