Environmental Science Resources

  • Primary sources come from the original source
  • Primary sources usually fall into these categories:

    * letters

    * official documents, ranging from appointments and legal briefs to committee reports

    * journals and diaries

    * newspaper and magazine articles

    * images, including photographs, drawings, paintings, sketches and maps.

  • Secondary sources are interpretive sources.  They are written after the original document and give someone else's interpretation of it. 

  • Books:

EPA Student Center
A keyword searchable resource for students by the Environmental Protection Agency. Covers: games,videos & quizzes; air; climate change; conservation, ecosystems; environmental basics; human health; waste & recycling; and water. Also, tells how students can get involved in environmental issues.

MERLOT Virtual Library -- Environment
This is a searchable index of over 1,000 carefully screened links arranged alphabetically and by category. We verify each link on a regular basis.

Global environmental health newsletter
An online newsletter.

Global Development Resource Center
Urban environmental management resources. Contains Documents (articles, reports, books), Keywords (glossary, definitions), Insights (an environmental thinking cap) How-tos (technology), Links (internet sites), and Chronicles (diary).

Earthsystems
The source for environmental information. Dedicated to the advancement of environmental information and education to the world community.

Earthguide: Educational resources
The science and nature of the Earth, its oceans and our environment. An ineractive educational resource. Contains an image library, maps, diagrams, online data and books, and glossaries.

Green Sleeves
The student environmental organization at Nashville State Community College in Tennessee. This guide contains information for students interested in an environmental science career. Also, tells when the group meets and other activities on campus.
