Abstract: This open textbook is being utilized in Library instruction for undergraduate students by Sally Robertson at Nashville State Community College.. The open textbook provides basic instruction to students needing to do research assignments in any college classes focusing on how to find good reliable sources and the evaluation of sources.  It also focuses on the use of library databases over the use of Google searches. The main motivation to adopt an open textbook was to help students write better research papers and also become lifelong learners. Most student access the open textbook through their course software. {NSCC currently uses Desire2Learn}.

This course will help any student in a class that requires a research paper. It will teach students about the different types of sources and how to evaluate them.

Learning outcomes:  This course will help students learn how to evaluate all kinds of sources and learn which sources are more reliable than other sources. Learning about what fake news is.
