Damage Control: City of London
Damage Control: City of London
InBev and the City have a complex relationship, with the Labatt facilities being a major employer within the municipality. However, the City is under pressure from its citizens, and while their resources are strained, their own spill creates a strong incentive to find InBev liable. The company is willing to cover as much as half of the municipal remediation costs, a figure based on a rough estimate of damage to public lands. InBev maintains that the City’s own missteps have exceeded the damage of the original spill, and that this has removed or at least substantially reduced InBev’s liability.
