Theoretical Concept Comparisons
By examining the four theories that have had the greatest influence on the constructivist learning theory, one gains a greater appreciation for their contributions to education today. A greater understanding of how elements from each theory can be classified as "constructivist" is also gained. In some fields and settings, Jean Piaget's theory is also referred to as individual constructivism, Lev Vygotsky's theory as social constructivism, and Jerome Bruner's theory as constructivist theory. Bruner's theory is often the theory focused on when discussing constructivist learning theory in education.
