I put the word water in the middle of the board and asked the children “what kind of things we do with water?” I received responses like we drink it., it makes waves., we swim in it and other comments that I wrote on the bored then I had a child yell out ‘it freezes when we put in the cold”

The children were able to use their past knowledge to make connections with the preset questions.
The children are demonstrating their learning in the fondations using SC1.2: Demonstrate awareness of the physical properties of objects by performing actions with objects and observing results and SC1.1: Demonstrate ability to explore objects in the physical world.There was a crossover with foundation PHG3.1: Demonstrate development of fine and gross motor coordination because of using the tweezer to pick items of the ice.
The children are describing what they see and feel while they are melting the frozen hands.

The children are using tweezers and spoons to put feathers, glitter, pipe cleaners, pom-poms, and googly eyes into the gloves.

The children are using eye droppers, medicine syringes, spoons, small shovels, sidewalk salt, warm water, and table salt to melt the ice and free their treasures.
