Conclusion

Education and Instructional Design must always begin and end with the student audience in mind. Finding ways to connect with learners as individuals will also enhance the learning environment, and, thus, learning outcomes. In second grade I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Unlike many others, that desire has never waivered; educating others has taken many twisting paths, but has always been at the forefront of my personal and professional goals. In every instance, I have endeavored to keep the learner at the heart of my work. A continuation of this path for me is to become a strong Instructional Designer who connects student to curriculum through active learning. Learning is, indeed, a social being. Creating a sense of community, especially in an online learning environment, is an essential social and emotional learning component that must not be minimized. Building courses which balance student needs in a supportive community with relevant and engaging curriculum is my dream for a successful professional future.
