Work Experience

Field Atlas Intern

After my work in the spring semester of 2021 AgriNovus Indiana ask that I stay on board as their summer intern. I worked full time remotely for the full duration of the summer at the Pantheon in Vincennes, IN. During this internship I collaborated on several projects with the AgriNovus team. A full audit of the Field Atlas website was completed to provide the most up to date information to their target audience. I conducted interviews with students to add their perspective to the different pathways students can explore. The communication team and I worked closely together to redesign the Field Atlas homepage based on the gen-z perspective. I lead this project and was the primary design lead. Along with that I help in the design aspect for several Stories from the Field along with sourcing those stories as well. I also participated in several presentations two for Junior Achievement Job Sparks event and a Purdue Ag Discover camp. I conducted three informational interviews. Along with completing an informational interview with ISDA Director Bruce Kettler I had the opportunity to join him on farm tours across Knox County, IN. This internship has helped to reestablish my passion and appreciation for the agriculture community. Working with a non-for-profit company like AgriNovus has inspired me to continue to be an advocate for agriculture and give back to the industry in anyway possible.

Field Atlas Ambassador

During the spring semester of 2021 and now the summer of 2021 I had the fortunate opportunity to work as a Field Atlas Ambassador through AgriNovus Indiana. AgriNovus Indiana is the State’s innovation initiative that fuels growth in Indiana’s agbioscience economy – the area where food, science, and technology converge with agriculture. Field Atlas is a career exploration platform, developed by AgriNovus, for students to discover innovative careers in the agbiosciences.  As a Field Atlas Ambassador my role is to increase knowledge of Field Atlas and the agbiosciences across our campus by meeting with interested students, faculty and staff. In this role I was an active participant in weekly meetings for Field Atlas. I had the opportunity to participate in a LinkedIn Live on "Connecting Your Company to Gen-Z Job Applicants." I also had the opportunity to have an informational interview and meet with Courtney Kingery the current ceo of Indiana Corn and Soybean. I also presented to several different classes and clubs on the campuses of both Vincennes University and the University of Southern Indiana. I also hosted three focus groups with college students to hear about their knowledge and use of Field Atlas. I was the host at a career fair as well as presenting to several faculty and staff. This internship allow me to grow my network and as a young professional working to enter the workforce.

Camp Counselor

I worked at a facility called KCARC 1972 in the summer camp . KCARC stands for Knox County Association for Retarded Citizens. This association is focused on employment and care of those with and without special needs. As a camp counselor I was in charge of a group of children that would get dropped off to the facility every morning by their parents. I would work with the kids for around 10 hours each day of my 12 hour shift. We would do different activities throughout the summer such as teaching the kids about science or teaching them about serving others. This job has prepared me for my future by showing me how to work with children and those with other needs. While working here too I got the opportunity to observe the kids while they ate lunch that was provided to them by the kitchen staff. Through doing this I learned what the kids enjoyed and did not enjoy eating. This is especially helpful with my future plans by giving my an insight to the preferred diet of children.
