As faculty serving both the English and education department, I teach courses in writing, linguistics/grammar, English/langauge arts methods, and literature for children and adolescents. Experience with the supervision of student teachers provides a necessary nexus between theory and practice. This is furthered with summer workshops specific to concerns in children's and adolescent literature, dedicated to providing practicing educators with materials for classroom use. Formal presentations for state and regional conferences about issues in critical literacy in the 21st century serve to stir my intellectual heart.
