Accurate historical depiction of immigration through Ellis Island. It is research based by primary source documents. The site is a thorough depiction of the immigration topic and includes additional suggested topics to research. The graphics are excellent. The site is well-designed to keep the interest of the users as they progress through the ten panels.
Concerns:
Any teacher planning to use this site in their class should read the "Terms of Use" information provided by Scholastic, the creator of the site. It seems you can download to one computer. It might be a good idea to contact Scholastic and let them know you are using in class.

The material on the Ellis Island site shows the relationship of data in several ways, by 1) decade, 2) 50-year periods, and 3) regions. Graphs are shown for all three areas for further in-depth study.
The site makes Ellis Island come alive. It shows the concerns of the immigrants as they make their way through the processing steps they must pass before they are allowed to enter the United States. This would be an excellent resource for a report and a class discussion.

The web site quickly displayed on the screen. The directions were very clear. There were boxes that were clearly labeled, arrows that were obvious for navigation, historical timeline with pictures. The site was easy to explore. It also contained a Virtual Field trip to Ellis Island.
