The accounting equation is the foundation of accounting and students must understand the equation before moving forward. This presentation presents the accounting equation in an easily understandable format. It can be used not only for introductory level accounting classes, but also is suitable for high school. The use of comic pictures should amuse students.

Strengths:

Very nice inclusion of the financing, investing and operating aspects of the statement of cash flows in a meaningful, easy to understand way.
This is integrated within the first two minutes of the video. Most resources and texts don’t do this very well.
The author provides audience with an entertaining method of teaching basic accounting concepts.

Concerns:

I don’t care for the way the author says if we took all the assets and sold them, then the money left would be owner’s equity. The concept of the “leftover” could have been communicated without saying this occurred if assets were sold.

Great at building on the prior concepts, integrating the revenue and expense formula in explaining owner’s equity.
Teachers and students could learn a lot in a short time.

The author’s website and related educational videos are professionally done.
The presentation is on Youtube, so it is easily accessible.

As with many resources on YouTube, there is a brief ad at the beginning

Worthwhile resource to clarify elementary concepts of the accounting equation and set up for future learning.
