Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The collection has an excellent foundation and vast amount of information that could be used in many different ways for teaching and learning.
Concerns:
Learning objectives, concept learning, and building of concept learning must be identified and provided for the material to be a good learning tool. The nature of the material itself requires that the structure and definition of its purpose be built. This is not a teaching tool and does not provide tutorials from which the student may learn the background of its purpose.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The website is easy to navigate and search criteria is easy to input via the options offered to narrow down results. Search by options are built in. Material pages have consistent layout and material offered. Data sets are provided via download so information can be easily saved and accessed on personal devices. Screen reader (google read and write) works well with the webpages and interactivity is built in through the nature of the “search” process. For those submitting data sets, there is active feedback given and assurance that a submitted data set will be thoroughly reviewed and approved before being made available to others.
Other Issues and Comments:
This is an additional tool for research purposes and perhaps can be added to an advanced research course along with background conceptual tutorials.
