Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
Innovative game, with three different sets of questions. The “End of term review” game is the direct link with links to the Accounting cycle powerpoint game and an inventory game.
Concerns:
The explanation for the primary link from MERLOT “End of term review” states this would be good for an end of term review, but these concepts usually would be addressed in the first few chapters only, so this description is not accurate. Questions for that particular game do not match the stated objective, but the answers are accurate for all three games. Somewhat limited coverage of topics, for each game.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
Teachers and students could learn a lot in a short time.
Concerns:
Stated learning objective is not accurate for one of the games, and somewhat limited in the setup. The instructions for the fast money rounds stated in instructions are not obvious to a first time user....That is the round with the timer, which does work
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
Very fun in the way the sounds have been incorporated into the game of clapping, saying no, etc. This makes for fun interaction.
Concerns:
There is lack of clarity in the instructions for a first time user. Clarify whether this to be run in broadcast time show or normal. Also for the rounds, the instructor must study the answers in advance to know whether to award 100 points (or not) to a given team; it almost makes the number of people who would say an answer irrelevant, and a bit more cumbersome for an instructor to uncover the correct answer. Unnecessarily complex for a first time user to include the % of people who would respond that way, but this could be alleviated with some awareness and/or instructions.
Other Issues and Comments:
Appreciate the gamification approach. Students will enjoy this lively tool.
