Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The video is easy to understand.
The information is introductory level for health care majors. It does not go into detail about the treatments of schizophrenia, such as specific medications.
The video is interesting and uses color animation.
Concerns:
More detail regarding treatment would have proven useful.
Items, such as stage of onset, could have been clearer. To say that onset is in adulthood is correct; however, developmental shifts or an age range (e.g., from adolescence to adulthood or 18-26 years old) would have provided additional clarity.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The animated video does increase the potential for learning and could promote the understanding of schizophrenia.
The three substages are clearly identified and the differentiation between the substages are designated in a manner where the learner can identify variance between them.
It could be used in a variety of ways to meet the teaching and learning goals.
Concerns:
One point made is that once someone diagnosed with schizophrenia can reintegrate into society with few issues. Due to so many television programs, books, etc. related to the topic, some learners may be confused or question this. A solid rationale as to the reason that statement is true would have been beneficial.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The video is easy to use.
The video is easy to navigate and worked fine.
Closed captioning is available for this presentation and the content can be fast forwarded, paused or rewound with ease.
