Overview:: This is a Stand-Alone Instructional Resource (StAIR) focused on some of the Web 2.0 tools that are available to use by educators and with students. It is an informational tutorial featuring video clips, product examples, and links to the web tools. It also provides a useful technology wiki that compliments the tutorial.
This interactive presentation introduces users to some of the currently available web 2.0 tools for education. Broken into several categories, including those used for presentations, video/photo sharing, websites/blogs, collaboration/organization, and creativity. Each section includes examples and uses of tools and links to those tools. Following each section, the presentation includes a knowledge check.

Recommended Uses:: This PPT could be used in a professional development sessions with educators, student teachers, and/or parents. It could also be used independently as a refresher on Web 2.0 tools. It could be used by an individual or entity seeking to improve or better understand the use of Web 2.0 tools in education or in their own work.
Technical Requirements:: This tutorial is presented in PowerPoint Show. For full benefit, access to the Internet is needed.
Identify Major Learning Goals:: The goals of this presentation are to 1) correctly identify ISTE, 2)develop an awarenes of the Web 2.0 tools shared and how they support creative efforts, and 3) correctlyidentify an example from each of the five categories shared--presentation, video/photosharing, websites/blogs, collaboration/organization, creativity.
Target Student Population:: College-level teacher-education courses, continuing education for educators, workplace enrichment for teachers/trainers/educators.
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills:: Familiarity with basic web 2.0 tools and technology education would be helpful but not necessary.

Rating:
Strengths:: This presentation from 2011 offers selected tools in the areas of collaboration, presentation, video/photography, and organization. There is much information from several resources. There are direct links to the selected tools that are featured in the presentation. It provides clear examples and information about the use of the tools included.
Concerns:: The slides are very text heavy. May need to be updated as it was created in 2011.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating:
Strengths:: The three learning objectives are clear and the assessment at the end of the presentation directly aligns with the objectives. The users have an opportunity to explore each of the selected tools at their own pace, if viewing the presentation independently. The selected tools provide a range of resources for educators and their students to incorporate in curriculum development and investigation.
Concerns:: The date of the material certainly eliminates many current tools that were created after 2011.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Strengths:: The selected tools are organized by category. The assessment at the end systematically checks for understanding of the original goals presented.
Concerns:: Not all of the features of the presentation can be viewed due to the date this presentation was made (5 years ago). The visual layout and heavy use of text distract users from some of the strong points of this presentation. Broken links affect its usability. There are some spelling errors as well.

Other Issues and Comments:: • Since this was created in 2011, it may require some updates to more recent or better-developed web 2.0 tools.
