Overview:

Created by Articulate (the company that makes Storyline), E-Learning Heroes is a site full of resources on creating learning objects using authoring tools and instructional design principles.

Type of Material:
A collection of Tutorials, eBooks, and articles
Recommended Uses:
These tutorials, eBooks, and articles are geared to the instructional designer or instructional technologists. The materials in the learning guides and articles are good for individuals, teams, lectures, self-paced, home work or in-class work
Technical Requirements:
A browser with an internet connection. eBooks require Adobe Reader.
Identify Major Learning Goals:
The course designer/educator can: learn basics of online course design; create interactive material with purchase of Storyline; develop accessible material that meets the needs of people with differing abilities; participate in discussions with other online course developers.
Target Student Population:
Educators and learning professionals.
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills:
Competence in their own course content material. Familiarity with browser operation. Familiarity with developing interactive material is a plus.

Strengths:
For the most part, content is current and covers core concepts necessary for online course development. A variety of different topics are covered. Links to additional resources are provided in some options.
Concerns:
Since this is an Articulate site with a significant interest in Storyline 2, some material is only relevant for people using that tool. That is true in each area, but is true of all the videos in the eLearning Examples area, 2 of the 4 Discussion areas, and several Downloads.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Material is important. eBooks are available in a pdf format so they are accessible by most viewers. Material is presented in an enjoyable, easily-readable style. eLearning Examples are varied.
Concerns:
Site map and more specific learning objectives would be helpful. Perhaps clearly identify items for beginners.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

The content is offered in easy to understand articles and eBooks with many graphics and is effective for engaging the users
Concerns:
Streamline navigation a bit. The new "portal" and links to weekly recaps are very helpful! https://community.articulate.com/
Other Issues and Comments:
It's a great reference collection; be sure to add it to your educator toolkit and explore other resources as well.
