Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The site features an incredibly rich collection of media, sourced from current and well-kept databases from across the web. It is easy to peek into the various sites without having to leave the interface. There is access to Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and email from the main site.
Concerns:
The site uses iframes, which helps to keep users from bouncing back and forth from site to site, but also causes some navigation issues as some sites are loaded into the space. Not all of the sub sites are really free. Some offer pay what you can while others offer one free photo every day. Because the sub-sites are really websites that have een curated, moving between them is not efficient and smooth due to the differences for each specific site.
Other Issues and Comments:
While this may not be technically possible, it would be a great feature to be able to search all of the sites from the main site as opposed to having to load in the iframe of each individual site and then search the site from within the iframe. It would be helpful if the site clearly explained that the materials are a collection of other websites. That would, in turn, explain why you cannot conduct a search from the home page of "All the Free Stock."
