HyperPhysics is a very good website to teach students important ideas in physics. Ideas are presented in segments or “cards” where student can go from one card to another learning about important ideas in each card. Some of these cards even have a built in calculator that can help teachers and students confirm their beliefs about the concept. For example, I would teach a lesson on Ohm’s Law with this website. Physics Illuminations is an interesting website that both describes concepts as well as give a small demonstration of it. It is very useful because it also has some problems for students to work out themselves and they can also check their answers at the same time. The only downside to this website is that at the moment they only have material based on Newtonian mechanics and does not cover the entire curriculum, which means I can only rely on it for the early half of the course. A lesson I would use this website for is to teach Newton’s Laws.

Assessing-to-Learn Physics is a website used to assess students on their knowledge of concepts in Physics. It is helpful because it provides a huge variety of questions that can challenge a student’s knowledge of Physics. Each question also comes with a goal of what point the question is trying to emphasize. I would use this in a lesson to test students on their knowledge of heat.

PhET is an interactive simulator designed to provide simulations for almost anything in Physics that can be physically represented. It teaches important physics concepts and provides students with important insight as to how, why, and what makes certain things work. An example for how I would use this in class is to teach a lesson on how waves behave by using this simulator: http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/wave-on-a-string

This Physics applet is designed specifically for use in optics. This is a great tool to help students understand how to draw and interpret ray diagrams. There are problems there to test students on their understanding and they can also have fun building and seeing the effects of changing variable in a system of lenses and mirrors. This site would be used in a lesson to teach students about optics.
