Media Writing
An introductory media writing course that stresses grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, and logic as the building blocks of clear communication. Students will explore and practice the fundamentals of professional writing across multiple media platforms. The course covers diverse styles of media writing, including web content, social media messaging, journalism, press releases, advertising, broadcast, and public relations.
Through hands-on writing exercises, students will learn how to tailor their voice and message to different audiences while applying principles of accuracy, clarity, and ethical responsibility. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills, conducting research, fact-checking, and adapting content for today’s fast-paced digital landscape.

Exercise
Students will practice media writing by completing short assignments that emphasize grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, and logic. Each exercise will introduce a different style of media writing—such as news articles, web content, social media posts, press releases, or advertising copy. Students will analyze sample media pieces, revise drafts for clarity and accuracy, and adapt messages for different audiences and platforms. The goal is to build confidence in writing professionally across today’s media landscape while strengthening critical thinking, editing, and communication skills.
